Purnima has special significance in Hinduism. The calendar in hinduism and in the date of Hindu Panchang varies according to the moon. What is a full moon? It the night when the moon is fully visible. The full moon night comes after every 30 days , it can be said that moon comes once a month. The decreasing and increasing side of the moon is called two types : Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha.
In hinduism , the Purnima tithi is considered a symbol of abundance , prosperity and wholeness. The dates of many Hindi festivals are aligned with Purnima.
